We are pleased to announce our candidacy for the Garfield Board of Education. As dedicated parents and taxpayers, we are deeply concerned with the current school board majority—Ramos, Taylor, and Quiles—and their pattern of wasteful spending and nepotism. We are ready to restore confidence in our Board of Education by prioritizing students and quality education, ensuring administrative accountability, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
Our Commitment
As advocates for all students, we pledge to:
Prioritize Students and Education: Focus on providing a high-quality education for every student.
Ensure Accountability: Hold administrators accountable to prevent wasteful spending.
Enhance Security: Improve security at all building entrances district-wide by implementing metal detectors and enhancing building security measures.
Revise Policies: Change existing "failing" board policies to better serve our students and community.
Expand Opportunities: Establish a trade school at the current school #9 location once the new school #5 is completed, offering alternatives for students not pursuing college.
Improve Programs: Enhance our arts and music programs and introduce new sports to our athletic program.
Support Teachers: Provide teachers with the necessary tools to improve standardized test scores.
Maintain Fiscal Responsibility: Work with city officials to keep taxes stable and control the board’s administration payroll and spending, which is currently one of the highest in Bergen County under the Ramos-Taylor-Quiles regime.
Renovate Facilities: Improve and add bathrooms to our high school.
Promote Respect and Safety: Ensure all employees are treated with respect and work in a safe environment without fear of retaliation.
